It's been a fun and particularly inspirational weekend and I wanted to share some of it with you guys. Firstly, here are two photos I guarantee you won’t have seen together before (and likely won't again).
On Friday night I had the pleasure of seeing my good friend Alexander Luttley perform as Pi the Mime in “Virgin's September Issue Xtravaganzah”. Pi was incredible as always, as was the rest of the show, but the real inspiration on the night was Virgin herself.
I can imagine that her journey can’t have been an easy one, but her integrity to her art and herself is a real inspiration. Her words on artistic and personal freedom were delivered with true pride and compassion and I think they spoke to the hearts of everyone in the room.
On Saturday, I finally got a chance to see rock gods The Foo Fighters perform at Milton Keynes Bowl. There were over 50,000 fans there to see them play and yet Dave Grohl, up on his rock throne, spoke to this enormous crowd as if we were just a handful of friends in his lounge. So personable and, if it's the right word, graceful.
Watching them perform, it’s clear that these guys work seriously hard, love what they do, and have a huge appreciation for their fans – not to mention Dave’s dedication to carrying on the tour with a broken leg! It was a massive inspiration, again, to watch them play songs spanning their entire 20 year-career, and still to be radiating such an unquenchable love for it all.
Thank you Virgin Xtravaganzah and thank you Dave Grohl and The Foo Fighters. One hell of a weekend!
